Rights of family of someone sectioned

My 30 year old daughter was sectioned on Monday, we are not allowed to see her, she is pregnant and the hospital are refusing to give us any information. What do we as parents and her husband have rights to know?

Hello and welcome,

I'm just passing through and hope you find some answers, I juggle many hats but this area of mental health is not one of them. In the meanwhile maybe this might be helpful for you or at least put you on the path to find some information which can help.

Though ideally there are those within the community that may have more exact information relevant to your situation.

Best wishes to you and your family in this difficult time

Take care

There is the triangle of care, if you look up on the internet all the details.

The patient has the right to confidentiality as so the Mental Health unit don't have to give info about the patient.

But the mental health unit should give sources of support to the family and loved ones.

And if the patient agrees, involve the family in the treatment and care plan.

And help towards an unpaid carers assessment.

You need to be clear if the hospital is withholding or your daughter has told them to withhold.
