Rob Larkman has left his £145k job as Chief Executive of the Whittington hospital whose A & E dept was saved by 10,00 protesters marching under the leadership of the charismatic Shirley Franklin of the Defend the Whittington Coalition.Mr Larkman,it appears, did not go of his own volition.NHS London have gone to extraordinary lengths to dismiss the Whittington press release.which stated that Larkman was leaving "to move into a senior role with NHS London".A spokesman for the SHA said,"No,sorry, that's not quite right.Rob is considering opportunities to work in the NHS in London. He is considering other opportunities in the capital. The article links Larkman's departure with his promoting privately-run polyclinics resisted so strongly by gps and patientst that the board had to back down.he also 'signed off' the controversial decision to award the American giant United Healthcare contracts to run three surgeries in Camden. The article goes on to say that "NHS insiders described Mr Larkman's departure as strange".Insiders who continue to make decisions that are hugely unpopular will find their careers nosedive. When a reporter
phoned Highgate Hospital to speak to him he was told."You can't-he's already gone" Nuff said?
