Oh gosh, Treehugger, that's hard. From the very, very little I understand about autism, could it be that the noise of the fridge working in the kitchen grates terribly, or that the washing machine sounds as loud as a thunderstorm? Does he believe that water is contaminated? (Does he drink water from the tap?) Is the mattress on his bed too soft so he feels as if he is sinking or the space beneath the bed doesn't allow a flow of air/too much air or whatever?
I suppose that your son cannot explain to you what is that out of kilter for him. Sorry, I'm probably talking rubbish.
Can't remember if you have gone down the Autism society/charity path yet. Any clues or help there? I hope you will find some help and support somewhere.
Hugs.

Thanks Elaine. I'm not sure which direction to take. The CPN is getting us a couple of useful addresses for local groups that might be able to help, but there's nothing from the NHS. My son is quite defensive about his views now as they have been construed as psychotic delusions (by both ourselves and services) and trust has been lost. that's not to say that he speaks much anyway. He's been getting progressively more withdrawn over the past 5 years. We have stepped back really, out of fear of making things worse, and we're just giving him space. Beyond that, I just don't know. I'm reading around and hoping the CPN gets back to us soon.

Last night there was a tv prog about violent kids, one of which was Aspergers who was helped by some specialists, a mix of techniques and horse therapy. Whole thing was a bit light touch like most tv but might be worth a watch for some leads to follow up?
Possibly channel 4 or 5... ? Sorry was only watching with half an eye

Thanks MrsA, will have a look as I know so little that any leads might be useful just now.
