For issues specific to caring for someone with learning disabilities
Good Evening
I am wondering if Dyslexia is classed as a learning disability. My 9 year old granddaughter has recently been tested in school and it has shown she is Dyslexic. She has a IEP and a statement. There appears to be differences of opinions as to whether this is indeed a learning disability. It impacts certain areas of her day to day life both at school and at home. My daughter was considering applying for DLA for my granddaughter but she feels she shouldn't as she thinks there are other children with greater disabilities that need this more. Thank you for your time
Christine

While DLA it is looking for ...
how is a person affected by a condition. Not the name of the condition.
Example: does the condition cause a person distress which effects their behaviour/functioning. Do they have disruptive behaviour/s. Condition are vast so you would need to seek advice.
