Leg ulcer

For issues specific to caring for someone with dementia.
My Mum went into respite care for a weeks holiday 2 weeks ago. When she came home I noticed a leg ulcer had developed about the size of an old penny. No problem though, it still had its top on.

Tonight, I went out to the chalet to give her her dinner and she's got blood all over her fingers. She's picked the top off the ulcer! When I asked her why she'd picked it , she said because it was there. Aaaaaaargh! I've dressed it, so OK for now, but my question is:

Should I phone the Doctor in the morning and get them to visit or should I just call the district nurse?

Any advice would be appreciated.
I'd go for the DN. A doctor won't dress it properly and a DN will give you a view on whether the doctor is needed for meds.
Thanks Juggler

I'll take your advice.
