misdiagnosis aside, what happened to all that information gathered by the 'disability register'? i recall many years ago being co-erced into putting my son's name on this as it would 'form the basis for providing services in the future'

As you know, it's voluntary to be listed on the register. However, not everyone is, and worse, it seems that no one ever uses it properly.

As for autism, etc., Social Services Departments have historically ignored it as it's "just another learning disability" or "we use the social model of disability here" (which is why you still need a diagnosis before getting help??? Image ) So why bother asking and actually planning??
