Today I spent 39 minutes and 17 seconds holding on to get through to the dept dealing with ESA for my daughter. I also tried to contact them via the website. No luck on either so I gave up.
Every year I am asked to provide evidence of how much savings she has and I do it immediately and return it straight away in the envelope provided. Countless times they tell me they have not received it and I have several copies of letters in her file where I have written to them a second time resending the amounts. Sometimes I have managed to get through after a long wait only to be told “oh we have got it now. No problem.”
They send a letter telling you they haven’t received it and giving you just a couple of days to do so. Our printer is broken so I just wrote a sharp reply on the form saying they were posted on 7/10
And listing the amounts of savings again and saying I am fed up with this happening.
There is no way on this earth either her or her partner could contend with this as they both have very poor literacy skills and neither would they handle messages like “press 1 if you are a Swiss National” and “Press 2 if you are waiting for a decision.” Etc.
Sometimes I send these things Signed For but that’s extra expense and it means an extra trip to the Post Office which is on reduced hours anyway and is never open when I need it.
What happens when we are unable to handle things or we pass away? Anybody know because this is worrying me. Same with their Universal Credit claim, I have to do all that for them.
