Social Workers Recording Meetings. Is this new?

Just wondering if anyoine else has experienced social workers wishing to make video recordings of care planning meetings or am I getting special treatment

Did you get given a copy? I wish they would record my meetings then they would not be able to deny what they said!

You can record the meeting yourself under those circumstances, but you can also refuse to accept their recording the meeting if you wish. They cannot legally insist on it. They should explain what the recording is for, and if they are taking a recording of your voice, which of course they would be, you can ask for a copy. They should provide it.

I can think of several occasions when a recording of the meeting would have helped me to prove a complaint, including one time when I was accused of saying things I did not. Fortunately I did have witnesses.

I've had that happen before. In one case the meeting minutes didn't quote a single word I said. Incredible.

For 2 years I’ve been recording all my meetings with every public body whilst I’m advocating for my daughter (having had many occasions where it would have been helpful fighting corruption, the sort we all encounter.) Social Services refused to meet and desired the minuted process for meeting recording but I felt that would only add complexity to any challenge over said minutes. Well at second stage of the complaints process it was upheld that my recordings were to be allowed and training on legislation over said recordings was to be given to social services teams.

Well long story short coming out of covid closures I have been putting pressure on social services to provide what is laid out in my daughters care plans, my carers plan etc but this has fallen on deaf ears, delay continues so I made a number of formal complaints. This led to social services wishing to do yet another assessment.

The meeting they recorded was at my home, 30 minutes notice. They asked if i was recording the meeting to which i said yes and they said they feel they should and I said this was fine. Well the meeting was like something you hear about but never expect to really encounter, these people were like soulless programmed robots, like really bad AI that cannot properly understand language or emotion and had a directive to complete. After the meeting they raised concerns with safeguarding team and an investigation commenced (I had also made a formal complaint regarding the meeting and a foi for the recording and case notes relating to the meeting).

Today I received the video recording they made, it has been broken into two parts, where the break is made they have removed a very important section of the video (i have an audio recording made on a dictation device and a video recording made from my computer). The case notes are a massive hit piece, they are factually all over the place and everything twisted or simply made up. What I find the most bizarre is that they recoded all this and then still twist it up and lie so completely, the whole learning disability department seems to be completely inept and corrupt. I already have an upheld Ombudsman report that looked at NHS but also could see and made comment at the inaction of social services and found fault in the team they are embedded into.

I have asked for the missing part of the recording but I do not expect that I will get it, the part they have removed is where I had left the room and they conspired something (least this is what appears from my recordings), so I’m now thinking this spreads even further with foi department and IT happy to collude. I have also asked if this recording was sanctioned and there is a procedure for making such recordings etc but I am still waiting on this information.

No. This is what I hate however. Double standards irritate me, it is a lot easier to have one easy to follow rule for everybody.
