Me too Henrietta, accent wise. People here in Yorkshire know I'm not 'local' but my accent has been smudged over the years, so they can't really tell. However, I have only to cross the border and my accent is immediately very Welsh. My family have always teased me about it. I don't do it on purpose!

'We was' friends and still are. :)
I'm disliking all these "Americanisms" that are creeping into our language !

Especially "from the get go" ! instead of "from the beginning" or "from the start" - what the hell is a "get go" when it's at home ?
I'm objecting to all the money that is being wasted in one very over priveleged 90 year old's birthday celebrations in what is supposed to be a time of "austerity" for the poor, the sick and disabled people. what are the Tories trying to distract people from?

the one that really gets my goat is when i take my wife into a shop in her wheel chair and the assistant or rep talks to me and not my wife. i normally tell them "she can talk"which seems to kill the conversation some what.
p, :D s for the puritans of English language. there are no dyslexia settings on my spell check

It is the house of Windsor's 100th next year ,100 years ago they were known as Saxe Coberg Gotha .
To get back on topic ,i will admit that the Liverpool ascent does grate a bit ,but i was very proud of them when their boycott of the sun made rupe say sorry ,and their 27 year fight to get justice for Hillsborough .
I have said this before but people especially couples in shops, they stop exactly in front of the item I want and have a long chat, just seems to happen all over the store. If you want a long chat go to the pub over a drink.
I know what I want I just need to be able to grab the item and go on to the next aisle.
Back to traffic. Drivers who 'push you' by driving really close behind when you are doing 30 in a 30 limit or 40 in a 40 limit etc. What's their problem? It's the law!
People who park near those horrible bumps in the road so that you cannot position your car to go over them in the least bumpy fashion.
People who can't be bothered to indicate a turn.

Sorry. It's just that I've been driving back and forth to Mum's Home a lot. Get cheesed off!

That annoys me as well, also people in supermarkets that park their trolleys across the aisle widthways whilst they browse so no-one else can get past!

Lol I get that a lot, we've got a campervan that has a high roof so I get drivers sat behind me desperately trying to pull out to go round. Their view is restricted because of the height of my van, I'm doing the speed limit anyway and you wouldn't believe the number that drive two centimetres from my back bumper and keep pulling out slightly to see beyond me. I could understand it if I was driving slowly but if I'm at the speed limit it's completely unnecessary.

Some silly woman had driven right behind me all the way along a windy road, she was on the phone the whole time; the woman in front of me started to indicate to turn right so of course I started slowing as soon as she put her indicator on and Mrs Impatient at the back didn't see. There was an enormous screech of brakes and the back of her car lifted, she braked so hard, missed the back of the van by milimetres. I think some people just think they're much more important than the rest of us. :)
