Every now and then as I watch the various presenters on TV, I wonder about the dresses etc they wear.

Does anyone know?

I presume the clothes are supplied by companies but who and how. :?: :?:

It varies from TV company to TV company Judy :) I presume that things are the same these days as when I worked for Thames TV in the 80's and 90's.

Some give the presenter an allowance and they buy their own 'screen' outfits which they can then keep.

Others expect the presenter to use their own wardrobe, with guidelines as to what they can and can't wear. I've noticed that most of the news readers seem to wear the same half dozen outfits in rotation - so they've obviously each built up a 'work' wardrobe (like we all do  ).

Programmes like "Strictly Come Dancing" provide the outfits - the dancers outfits are handmade by the BBC Wardrobe department specifically to reflect the nature of the dance routine. I'm not sure about Tess Daly's dresses, but suspect they come via the same route, as I don't think I've seen her wear the same dress twice

The only time that a presenter might wear a 'designer' outfit loaned to the company is for a 'red carpet' occasion or an awards ceremony.
Thank you Sue,
might have know really as it seems to vary according to whether it national or regional companies.

I`m not as observant as you, can`t say I`ve seen the same one twice. :D

well re Tess Daly I quite often think "what does she think she looks like in THAT "
Just Tess Daly?!?!
There's a website dedicated to informing viewers where to buy dresses/clothes that celebs wear on TV.

http://www.spotted.tv

Dedicated spotters in the know can also sign up to become a spotter and make some money, just by watching TV and reporting where things you saw on TV can be bought.
