Hubby and me sometimes watch The Voice, as there isn't much decent stuff on TV at that time on Saturday night and we like a bit of couch potato time at the weekend. However, I've found this year's series really disappointing and think the candidates are the worst they've ever had. Often the song choices have been poor, and on occasions where they've chosen a decent song, they've often overdone it by overdoing the vocal acrobatics to the point where I have to press the mute button! They don't seem familiar with the notion "less is more"!

Also, they seem very keen on ticking all the PC boxes - it seems mandatory to have a cross dressing, trans gender person in every talent show now, along with someone with multiple face pearcings and/or numerous tatoos, whether or not they possess talent! Yes, you guessed it, I'm not keen on facial pearcings or numerous tatoos, horribly old fashioned of me and I know my personal taste is not relevant as this is a singing contest, but when they happen to sing like a wailing banshee I do question why they've reached the semi final.

The judges are often more entertaining than the singers. I LOVE Ricky (and so does hubby - I worry he may have a man crush!), WillIam is amusing if nonsensical at times, and Paloma is likeable. As for Boy George, I like his personality and he has beautiful eyes which somehow suit the eye make up, but why on earth does he insist on wearing those HIDEOUS hats?!? We know he's going bald, it's not anything shocking, so I wish he'd just stop wearing those hats that make him look like one of the Diddy Men! A wig would be more subtle!

So - rant over. Anyone else feeling underwhelmed by this year's offering?

Think I would be if ever I watched it Shewolf
"Reality/Talent" shows are not my thing at all  I agree with you about Saturday night TV though - it's dire at the moment :( I usually spend the evening catching up on stuff I've recorded during the week (I'm 'into' sci-fi/fantasy; NCIS, Elementary, Bones and other US cop series  ) oh yes, and Supervet scores highly on my watch list !
Sorry Shewolf, not on my list of 'must see'. I tend to catch up on recorded programmes too, not that my taste is 'high brow'. Have been recording the Shannara' series, which hubby won't watch and I go for things like Casualty, which hubby won't watch. We both find 'Boomers' quite amusing and share a liking for anything concerning antiques or some, not all, history.

I just switch the TV off on a Saturday night and we go through to son's room and watch DVD's or whatever.
