my first post and its food.... Image

4 tablespoons self raising flour

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

A small splash of vanilla extract

1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug / desert bowl, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

works well with other stuff ovalten horlix.. try choc buttons in it.

cake in 5 mins... what can i say sorry to those on a diet!!

Does anyone have a relatively healthy recipe for a lemon sauce? I have bought packets to have with fish but not only is it expensive but it's probably not so good for you either!

Not really a 'swap' but does anyone have a recipe for a microwave cake, I've seen loads for 'cake in a mug' but I want to cook a proper sized cake I mind if its a sponge, or fruit cake, plain or chocolate, any sort so long as it will cook into a 22cm x 25cm round silicone 'tin'.

Yes I do Jimbo!

equal amounts flour butter and sugar (varies depending on the size of the container) one egg and enough milk to make it a wallpaper paste thickness and microwave til you can stick a knife in it and pull it out clean.

You can flavour it anyway you fancy though my dad used to put a spoonfull of jam in it and it had a tendency to explode in the microwave.... Hence Jam Bang Dinger Cake Image

Microwave cake takes experimentation. You'll work out what works best in yours.

Another experiment for you, Jimbo.

4 tblspns SR flour, 4 of caster sugar, 2 of cocoa powder. Mix with 1 egg, 3 tablespoons sunflower oil and 3 of chocolate chips. Whisk all together and microwave for 3 mins or so. Serves 2 and good with custard. Not sure what happens if you multiply this up to get a "proper sized" cake. Hungry now ...
