Who informed the BBC that from 6am until the whole outrageous squandering of taxpayers money is finished(and no doubt then we'll get a load of old half alive ex-politicians dissecting every painful minute) that we wanted to be subjected to Thatchers funeral, i know i didn't mean to go on about it but just who is responsible?
Could they not have put this miserable broadcast on a single channel and let those that want to wring their hands in fake sympathy watch it without the rest of us suffering.
If even only 50% of the population now are in the slightest bit bothered with this nonsense(and i imagine that not anywhere near that % are) that means 50% aren't, therefore the BBC are pandering to only one side.
This is actually turning into a kind of Royal Ascot or a film premier with a who's going and what will they be wearing feel to it.
It is only a few hours out of my life and we do have the switch off button, but for those who deplored this vicious, evil human being it is another example of very little in the way of democracy in this god forsaken country.
The sooner the better this is over, the whole thing makes me want to throw up violently Scott.
I get the impression that you dont like her then Scott? Image

I'm with you all the way on this deplorable human being. I have not met one person who actually liked her. Except a few years ago when a dyed in the wool true blue customer of mine sang her praises and that was before she went mad!
That woman would have voted for a lizard if it was standing for election and wearing a blue rosette. Image

I'll be damn glad when all this farce is over too. Image
Gotta say I share your feelings. Never has a prime minister so divided the nation - that speaks for itself! Even those who support her must surely flinch at the expense of £10 million spent on funeral proceedings, at a time when this country is on its knees financially. How much do you think is being spent on security - £5 million!
A poll was conducted into how many people didn't want a ceremonial funeral - 7 out of 10! The sooner today is over the more relieved I will be.

I put the TV on,had forgotten about the funeral, just in time for the sermon(I presume),where the ArchBishop was talking about how popular Maggie was even with children, and how there was a story of a 9 year old boy called David who wrote her a letter,at which point I managed to change the channel but not in time to avoid a smirking David Cameron, who was obviously the 9 year old boy.
Even though I have never liked her,I have not said anything against Mrs Thatcher over the last week(at least I don't think so),but as time has gone on, I have become more angry about the money that is being spent and the way that politicians are idolising her.
I thought this was not a Mrs Thatcher moan thread, and yes I'm no fan of Capitalism but I hate Communism with a passion, having had first hand experience of east Germany in the early eighties.
Yes people suffered during the Thatcher years but a dam site more gained and we all have better life's for it now.
Without going into detail, Kev4, I somehow think your numbers are inverted.

The real issue is how few people understand the damage that was done in the name of Thatcherism, and what its consequences have been - only one of which is the Bedroom Tax, brought in because of the shortage of affordable social housing - which was sold off.

Mrs Thatcher - love her or loathe her - was the most divisive leader of our age, a true Marmite politician, whose main attribute was luck: luck that her opponents were even more divided than the rest of the nation.

So how do you explain that she is the most divisory Prime Minister we have ever had then? Yes, the rich did gain didn't they?
Well, I didn't think it would ever happen, but Mrs. T has finally managed to impress me! I was astonished to learn that she specified that she didn't want a eulogy.

Had to laugh when a child asked why was all this done because of the "ironing lady"?

Rich did get richer but so did the Majority of the working class, or would you have preferred the rich to get poorer along with the working class because that's what would have happened.

Anyway we're never going to agree. Image

but there is one thing you and every person cannot deny, She was elected Prime Minister of this country 3 times. Says everything really.
And indeed it was not meant to actually be about Thatcher and her like, but as the days have passed and the enormity of the squandering of money laid out on this travesty makes more people angry and bewildered.
The vicious woman is gone, she should not be forgotten, we are told we should have respected her in death, the evil she wrought showed no respect from her in life.To forget her is to not hold her as a warning of what absolute power can do.
We have seen it so often.
Why will people not call a spade a spade, this woman was an example of everything that is bad about our political system. She created a monster and we still suffer from that these days.
I take great joy in the fact that apart from all the talking heads we will have to suffer for days, the charade is over.Watch the back-biting and bitching start now its done with. Let us now move on. Scott.
