Into/out of hospital

Hi, does anyone have experience of the person they are caring for going in to hospital for a short time?

For example I care for my elderly father who may have to go in to hospital for a week or so. I read online that I can continue to receive my carers allowance for up 12 weeks but I'm wondering if it means filling in a load of forms when he goes in and again when he comes out? Any help would be appreciated

Thank you
