Ah Mrs A
The list is endless but a select few

Tax Officer
Housing
Bank customer service
Telephone Sales
Insurance clerk
Can you spot a theme developing?

Schedule organiser in care company (constant stress)
Children's nanny or whatever the correct term is these days (constant headache)
Shop till operator (rabbit in headlights)
Packing/factory type mundane job (total brain boredom)

Hope that inspires some more suggestions for my other thread !

I'd hate to have to have a job trying to sell things to people who don't want to buy them....

'Born salesmen' LOVE that - they see buyers as suckers and idiots, and themselves as 'winners' who 'get one over' the idiots buying the crap they are selling.

I could only sell something I believed was good and well priced. And I would point out its flaws as well.

The job I'd adore to have would be a counsellor!

I LOVE telling people how to solve their problems (no, Jenny, we'd never have known that from your posts here!).

But I could NEVER be. 'real' counsellor - the restrictions would drive me bonkers. Which, of course, is why I hog forums instead!

To be honest, I couldn't be a carer in a care home.

Well, I could for a stint - eg, a month a year or something, but never permanently.

And, now I am old, I couldn't actually work for anyone else again, either. I can't take orders from people any more! Especially not when they are half my age and think they know everything!

I couldn't be a teacher in the UK.

I love teaching - trained as one at one point (ran away screaming before I finished!) - but I WILL NOT put up with misbehaviour.

I could only teach in a 'strict' school, and those don't exist any more.

I couldn't teach a child who didn't want to learn. They can leave the class, fine - their problem, not mine.

BUT, I do appreciate that some subjects are really 'awful' for some children, depending on their skills.

One of the scariest things I saw once on TV was a programme where 'the kids became the teachers' and forced the teachers to learn subjects the kids wanted to teach them. One of them was Rap and Hip Hop.

It REALLY rammed home to me how children must feel when forced to learn a subject that is anathema to them, and that is just a TOTAL waste of their time.

It really scares me, the idea of having to learn a subject I don't want to learn, or that I 'disapprove' of (as in, wish it didn't exist), like Hip Hop.

Sorry Jenny - I think I reported post before I quoted it !

Yes another one to add to my list with the proviso that if I liked and respected the manager it would be ok but how many of those have I met in my long career ?

Now I could be an undertaker, always thought it would suit, sympathy in short bursts!
I could also fancy being a pathologist doing autopsies

Jenny, counselling is much more listening and reflecting rather than telling! I see you more as hospital matron like they used to be! I couldn't be a teacher because I'd expect them all to get it right first time

One of my late clients had a grandaughter who wanted to work in an undertakers as soon as she left school - a little weird :!:

But then again society needs willing people.
