Hi Shandy,
Personally I was never into dolls, it's dogs for me LOL
What's your doll's name?
Hi I'm new here. I collect reborn's, at 1st I only invested in one to model my knitted & crochet baby clothing to help them sell better, which worked a little bit and my work looked so much better than on a cheap play doll, it opened me up to the reborn community, where I seem to find loads of people who enjoy them & treat them like real babies some role play, using REAL baby food (still think that's odd but who am I to judge) some take them out with them they get mixed responses from the public, others just display them, I have seen some ladies with a beautiful nursery set up where they have spent a fortune on fancy cribs decorating furniture etc etc, least they wont grow out the stuff lol. I turned into a collector, I still make clothing but enjoy trying them on the dolls & taking little photo shoots of them posing in the outfits, I don't take mine out because the folk round here aren't very open minded, I did find it relaxing pushing a pram always have.Shandy wrote:does anybody here own a reborn doll I have one because I cannot have children I even have nappies for her and the baby clothes she is adorable and cuddly
I agree it is very unhealthy, there are members with special needs that treat them as if they are real, they are the exceptions, but grown women who know better feeding the dolls real baby food wasting the artists paint work get on my nerves, they take it to far as with the ones who put the dolls before their real children, a few spent a fortune on high end baby shoes & clothing but got there real kids cheap school shoes cos they couldn't afford better ones, but they just spent £200 on a blinking doll, that's not on.SheWolf wrote:As the youth like to say... OMG those dolls are amazing!I'm amazed at how life-like some of them are, and can totally understand the appeal of collecting them. Similar to collecting teddies really, but with the bonus of being able to dress them up in cute clothes.
I think it's as good a pastime/interest to have as any, and not doing any harm, unless people get obsessed and start treating them like real babies, which I think would be a bit unhealthy.
(Going to Google now and see more of these adorable creations. )
