Hi my nephew is coming over from Australia to get married here, I was going to give him money how much is a reasonable amount to give a relative on marriage? Also My Mum died some years ago and I would like to give him some from his Gran as she would have wanted this thanks
Really it depends on how much you can afford to give !

If he is someone you are fond of I'd say something like £100 - £150 would be a generous gift.
Did your Mum indicate at any time how much she would like to give to her grandchildren on the occasion of them getting married ? My Mum's two grand-daughters got married before she died in 2012; one in 1999 and the other 2001,back then I seem to remember that she gave each of them £200 as a wedding present.
Thanks I was thinking about those amounts. Love my nephew very much, we saw him fight for his life when born prematurely at 6 months and he defied all the odds despite having Cerebral Palsy. He has turned into a fine young man. Mum never said but I feel it is what she would have wanted.
Hiya,
As well as that cash gift, do you have such a thing as a photo or either you and mum or one which includes him? Perhaps a little personal gift of such a photo, in a nice frame, along with the 'joint' cash gift, would be a nice touch?

That's nice, but I agree to @Susieg, it depend how much you can afford to give ;)
If you have enough money you can give him something that he'll need in the future life kitchen kits or something
You can open deposit on his name or something like this
But as for me the best gift is some family relic
Something that will always remind him about his old home in the new one

Speaking of family relics, personally I love a photo album. I think that would make a great wedding present.
Maybe I'm too boring but I'd give money for newlyweds because weddings are expensive, they usually go on vacation after this. Money is what they need the most.
Try to give him a gift rather than the amount, in gift there is a feeling attach and it will express your love towards your nephew. The gift amount doesn't matter the only thing that matters is how much you can afford?
Did your mother indicate how much amount or what gift she gave to any of her grandchildren? if yes so give the same cash amount or gift.
