Which I pad is best?

Having sold my husband's lorry, I'm going to treat myself to an ipad. The rest of the money will go on boring but needed stuff for the house I expect. Everyone was really helpful when I asked about Skype a few months ago, so I thought I'd ask my forum friends if they could tell me what they loved and/or hated about their ipad? Whatever I buy is will have to last me a long time, so I'd rather get something I didn't constantly curse. Usually I curse the operator for being dumb!

I can't advise you,but can say that my husband,son and daughter get really good use from theirs. My husband can enlarge print which means he can download books and read for the first time since most of his sight went,my daughter uses hers for hospital appointments for her elder son(with autism)downloads his favourite TV programmes and he can watch them in a waiting room.It has been worth every penny.

IPad's are not the only fruit! Unless you want to stick with Apple and ITunes of course...

The Google Nexus 7 (Asus 2013) version is getting rave reviews at the mo, last years model is still a great bit of kit ... or Nexus 10 for a larger screen, both cheaper and IMO better than the IPad, an open platform so you can customise as much or as little as you want... Sadly the general public think apple first and don't consider Android, but that's changing fast..

And because it's Android there are loads of top names that supply tablets... Sony, Acer, Asus, Samsung etc. Unlike Apple where there's a tablet made by Apple and that's it....

Search round the net, loads of reviews, videos etc out there. I have a Nexus 10, and Nexus 4 phone, tied into chrome on my laptop, all seamlessly working which each other..

The retina display is really good, great for watching videos which is what I do mostly with mine
But as Ollie said I would consider Android too particularly the Samsung ones

And did you know that some engineers left Acer and started ASUS and they
made the nexsus google Tab so in all they could be part Acer I'm full of useless

Mine is a bog standard, cheap and cheerful no name which serves the purpose for my limited needs, battery doesn't last very long. Have just bought daughter a similar one for her birthday so she can access internet in wifi spots, ideal for her needs.
Adding to what LazyD has said, I have seen what a godsend they have been to the family for their various needs. x x

Think or ask the tech guys wherever your going to buy it from as depending on what you are going to use it for you may not be able to get an app for certain things.

IOS which is Apple have many apps for may different things. Android also have many but are catching up to Apple's IOS to gain the same apps or an equivalent (if this makes sense)

The Ipad3 is very good but as people have said the Nexus and others are very similar if not the same or even slightly better in certain areas.

Thanks everyone, I'm learning lots. Are they all reliable, or do they need to go back to be mended often? As I've never had one before, I don't really know what I'll use it for. My laptop is mainly for emails and looking things up on Google, I've never downloaded music or films. If I got an ipad which I can use anywhere, are some better than others at picking up signals?

I have a iphone 4 its really down to your router if your ipad can get a good wifi signal, i have a very nice app on my iphone can scan and find all the wifi signals in your area, very usefull app.
