Im not really able to share hopes, fears and dreams with hubby now, so can I share a dream with you lot instead?

In the window of our local estate agent there is a beach hut for sale, its almost in walking distance and I have always wanted a beach hut. There is no way we could afford it, but a girl can dream right? I told hubby about it and said I knew we couldnt afford it, but it had always been a dream of mine. His reaction was that he would like enough money to be able buy it too. But you see, its not about having money or status or investment (which is what hubby was thinking about), but what it would be like to actually have one - which I couldnt get through to him.

I dream of having a beach hut so we could go and spend time on the beach and have everything we need at hand. There could be chairs, a table, books and a radio. I could cook on a camping stove and make fresh tea. And if it rains there would be somewhere to retreat to. I dont think we will be able to go away for holidays for much longer as hubby cant cope with the change of routine and the stress gives him seizures, but if we had a beach hut we would go home again in the evening to sleep, and if he did have a seizure we could have a day bed for him to sleep it off during the day.
My children now have partners and Im thinking that in a few years time there are likely to be grandchildren and if they come and stay with us then a beach hut would be perfect.

Sigh, a nice dream.......
we were in the position of having a beach hut for a couple of years Crocus. It was a wooden chalet on a caravan site, and one minutes walk to the beach. We had to give it up as it cost too much(council tax had to be paid on it).I would love to be able to afford one again too.Going away for a couple of days, forget about the brown envelopes, watch the glorious sunset(we were right on the west coast, Cardigan Bay).
I could safely walk along the beach at midnight,I will share this lovely dream with you Crocus.I hope you win the lottery and are able to get yourself a beach hut.x
Crocus-I've always wanted a beach hut, even though we live no-where near the sea, so I can totally relate to your dream.

This will sound nuts, but I've always also wanted a large enough garden, that I can out a static caravan at the bottom, and this will be my retreat. I don't need a big one, and I don't need mod-cons, just somewhere where I can go down to, and pretend I am on holiday for a few hours. I'd have a table and chairs, small sofa, pretty curtains, a few plants, my writing, books, and a radio. Image Image Image

Phoebe you could get 4 statics in my garden and I still would not see you Image Image Image I'll put some pic's up of it
this year
Yep - me too!
I often go for a walk on the seafront and thing about which one I'd like...and on the rare occasion when they come up for sale I gulp and the prices. Image
Still have dreams of being a PD James, sitting in a beach hut churning out a novel or two though! Image
Crocus - that's a lovely dream. I used to fancy a beach-hut but knew several people who had them and they really didn't use them as much as they intended.

We live just 10 miles from the coast but to be honest our garden is a lot quieter than the coast here in summer. I have a lovely "corner" summerhouse and that's my little haven. Have you ever thought about one? I'll describe it - we picked a corner one because you don't waste any space. I've forgotten the measurements but it easily seats 6 people. Unlike a conservatory it's not joined to the house so just venturing out and having some distance makes it feel like you're on holiday! Image Mine has fitted carpet, a couple of comfy chairs, a 2 seater sofa, some throws, a couple of folding tables, electricity (for evening light, my CD/radio and sometimes a cold fan or heater depending on weather). I have curtains to keep the sun out when it gets very hot,
double doors and a lovely view of the house and garden.

I love being out there on my own with my knitting or crochet and some mags and books. Sometimes I have restful music on. I don't take a phone out there because I want complete peace and it's blissful. On the wall I have a large picture of a bluebell wood with a path through the trees and bright sunlight in the distance. I focus on that sometimes and I could be a million miles away!

I hope your dream comes true Crocus. Image
Penny that sounds like bliss Image
I love my garden, but its still like work and there wouldnt be room for a summer house.
