Although its in all manner of news related websites at the moment as well.. I just tend to not bother with mainstream media (mirror sun etc) as I have strong opinions against msm.
“Anyone born with down syndrome should be put down, it's just cruel to let them lead a pointless life of a vegetable.”
I understand this particular person has a bit of a history with vile and disgusting behavior dating back to previous comments made regarding the McCann family..

Almost certainly anybody posting on these boards understands many with genetic disorders are capable of leading a full, meaningful and independent life with the right level of support (where necessary)

But still begs the question are people really still this poorly informed? Its the sort of thing you would hear when you are out and about from an elderly person / somebody that lived through the years where people with genetic disorders / learning difficulties etc would be institutionalized...
Never heard of the woman, and if she wants to fill her postbag with hate-mail and death threats in order to achieve some notorious prominence, I suppose she has the right to use her freedom of speech to abuse anyone she wants, including people who were not born with her obvious advantages in life, such as the usual number of chromosomes.
I suppose it just goes to prove that there are human vermin out there, but we knew that already.

This is the kind of person she regards as a 'useless mouth' ....my son. Who now, at 21, can head off to town to train at his boxing club, travel by bus, or go down the pub by himself.

Well said Scally.
Freedom of speech is one thing, but this is hate speech and proscribed by law.

Although having said that, I'd never heard of the woman before and remain happily ignorant of her many achievements. Or something like that.

Personally I think everything we say reflects the way we feel about ourselves and the way we see the world in general. People who are generally reasonably happy and content with themselves, have a reasonable level of self esteem and generally feel a bit alright don't tend to feel the need to pointlessly sit at home tapping away on a screen saying nasty things about other people, they're usually out and about getting on with life and enjoying themselves. Those who can't get out and about - like so many of us on this and other forums - spend their online time trying to help other people and be supportive to one another. I personally shudder to think how empty and meaningless someone's life must be if the best thing they can think of to do is to say nasty things about people they don't know who've never done them any harm (and to be so spineless as to have to do it online instead of doing it face to face).

To be honest I don't think it's anything to do with ignorance; you can find out anything you need to know in fifteen minutes flat these days. It's just an easy way for lazy, attention hungry individuals to get some more attention without having to do a lot.
