I enjoyed:,

The Selfish Pigs Guide to Caring

Why?, As we all need to be a selfish pig sometimes

Did it help?

YES it did

(And it made me laugh),

I fought hard for alternative care, and am now starting to get the benefits
I need that book.
Me too Thara. I have heard of it.
The Selfish Pigs Guide to Caring by Hugh Marriot

secondhand copies are readily available on Amazon and ebay :)
Looking for a easy Christmas read. All recommendations wanted.
What sort of books do you like reading Thara? Historical fiction? Fiction? Non Fiction, Thrillers? Happy to make suggestions but it would help if I knew what you enjoyed.
Mostly historical, art and craft books and the occasional travel book.

Would you be interested in Elly Griffiths books? She is a crime writer and her books are set in Norfolk and the main character, Ruth, is an archaeologist who has an affair with a Police Detective. So you have her archaeology work plus her affair going on!

Thank you. I will visit my local library and ask tomorrow.

You don’t have to read them in order but it will help to understand her relationship. The first book is called The Crossing Place.
Yes I second the Ellie Griffiths books - our Book Club read one a couple of years ago and it was very good.
I have just finished 'The Witches of Saint Petersburg' set in Russia just before the reveloution. It is about two Duchesses from Montenegro who really existed and who introduced Rasputin to the Empress....fascinating book and really drew me in. But it is also about a mother's love for her children and her desperation with regard to producing an heir. I always wondered how Rasputin managed to get his 'hold' on the upper echelons of Russian Society and this book goes some way towards explaining it - he almost had 'Cult' status, but does not clarify totally how it happened. Worth a try Thara? I felt desolate when I had finished it and this to me is a mark of a good book. A friend who is a history teacher is reading it now and also enjoying it. Another friend has my copy but has not started it yet - I am tempted to suggest for our Book Club but want to get feedback first so if you do read it let me know what you think!
