Audio recording of social worker meetings

Due to obfuscation, delay and downright lies from social services I started recording all meetings where I advocate for my daughter, I want to have accurate records of meetings so that the LA cannot delay funding my daughters support any longer. The social worker is now refusing to meet with me at home because I did not seek permission to record and when i did inform them i was recording they said they do not consent.

Is it ok for social services to refuse to meet? this is now holding up a CHC Funding assesement and I am unable to work untill support for my daughter is in place which is causing hardship.

I am seeking legal advice on Wednesday but just wanted to know if anyone else has experience of something like this?
Hi Lee, I haven’t had the exact same problem but have had difficulties getting social workers to engage/ act and had to get legal aid for my caree and a solicitor to act on behalf of them. It’s amazing how they jump into action once a solicitor’s letter has been received!

This might be useful on the right to record meetings https://www.communitycare.co.uk/2015/12 ... need-know/
You’ll need to scroll about halfway down.

I also found something called the Transparency Project, however it seemed an unsecure link so haven’t posted it.

Thank you both, my daughter is 22.

I was confident that I was acting correctly, i have no intention of using the recordings for anything other than accurate record keeping and i informed them of this. I think they have been acting unlawfully the past 7 months in trying to avoice providing the correct support and would prefure to carry on misleading us down a road to nowhere.

Yes I think the only answer now is for a legal process and advocacy to get the LA to act lawfully. The stress they have put me under has made me feel very unwell.
I refuse to attend meetings without an advocate for me and one for my son. Then there is an independent witness. They cannot be trusted.

can i ask how you obtained your advocates? I have submitted a complaint and have requested an independent advocate but as with every request I have made in the last year im sure they will lie and delay any action for as long as humanly possible.
Ask for a "Care Act Advocate". Then there is no excuse, and it shows that you know your rights.

If you can manage it, I'd suggest printing off the entire 2014 Care Act Guidance.
There is so much in there that I didn't know until an even more forthright than me (!) friend pointed me in the right direction.
The New Forest area now has a group of pushy mums determined that the LA do what they should do. We are all very worried about what will happen to our learning disabled adult children when we are gone.
I have a copy of Luke Clements "Community Care and the Law" but it has not helped force the LA to act correctly, even when i quote the law and copy in the monitoring officer whilst threning legal action the continue faffing about. I am seeing a solicitor in the morning with a hope of getting some help, I have tried getting legal help over the last few months but finding a solicitor that can support legal aid and have a case load low enough to take new cases is difficult but then im sure the state want to keep it that way to hold us down.
