Facebook?

Socialise and chat about other areas of your life
Thanks for all the information about Facebook.

My eldest sister had suggested that I signed up because many family members, including her kids, and it would be a good way to keep in touch. I had, like many people, had my reservations about getting on to FB because of security/press issues but I will give it a whirl and as suggested, if I have probs, will get on here and have a chat.

Let us know how you get on Vivien.

I just caught a glimps of a leaflet advertised on tv the other day- from Barnados Childrens charity -it sounded like a guide on how to keep your children safe and I think it included an on line section for social media.
Viv, just join, and then ask your sister to be a friend, or vice versa. Then you will be able to "see" all her friends. You can then ask any of them to be a friend. It's an easy way of keeping up with what family and friends are doing. I'm sure you will enjoy it. If you end up with someone you don't want, it only takes the push of a button to "unfriend" them, and they don't even know! Also, if you have a particular health interest, there is usually a forum group for that too. I learn all sorts of things from the "Learning Disability Forum", for example.
I have facebook and love it but have just one problem with it. If I happen tag my daughters in a post it automatically lets their contacts see my post which is a problem as it then lets my ex husband see the post other than that my facebook is pretty secure. It is my way of keeping up to date with family and friends that live in different parts of the UK to me.
I think facebook is fantastic!
I keep in touch with all my family and friends who we'd otherwise no nowt about.
Like yesterday our niece had another baby girl, Bethany Elizabeth. My old avatar showed me and Jill holding her first born Jessica, just a week old.
I have found old work mates and school friends too and joined my old City of Coventry sites and made more pals on there.
Also I joined an artist site in New York which had to close due to illness, but we all stayed together on facebook.
Its as safe as you want it to be. If you dont want it known, then dont post it. :)

Just thought I would let you know how I got on.

Signed up and have found a load of friends! A number of people that I knew when I used to work in Farnborough - family & friends of my late boss. We've had many chats since. Also am in touch with family members, particularly my niece & nephew. The latter became a first time dad 2 weeks ago. Baby girl 7lb called Keira Elisabeth. She's a beaut. So that makes Mum a great granny and me a great aunty. Well the latter is correct - of course I am great!

Sounds well worth it Viv, fabulous.

S is enjoying it too. He loves adding photos of his interests and types messages to his friends too.
