Will try to keep it short but basically I do a lot of volunteering for a charity that gives an awful lot of help and support to disadvantaged families.. but when we ask for help ourselves, NOBODY wants to help. So very disheartening and makes me wonder how we carry on sometimes!

What do you mean, Blue Bon Bon, when you need more volunteers or when you need something personally? I know that I rarely help out with or for charities that we get help from simply because of a lack of time on my part and having no-one to look after my son so I can go off and do something else.

I read this to mean that you volunteer with a charity but your own family get no help. Is that right?

I think I know how you feel. When my daughter was younger I worked for 13 years in a charity shop once a week. It was a charity which provided holidays for children with severe special needs. Her school used to do events for things like Children in Need and we were always sponsoring neighbours and friends for such events. We never got any help from anywhere for my daughter and I'm not talking just financially, we never got any advice, assistance or a listening ear.
