End of the road for tax discs in six weeks

I am still waiting for a reply from Motability , D.V.L.A. & M.P. asked over 6 weeks ago for information .
from October we will not have a tax disk in the windscreen but for many who are actually tax exempt we need the disk which shows the vehicle is registered disabled use, on a recent trip to France using the Dartford bridge we had to get the booth operator to physically look at the disk on the windscreen to confirm it was a tax exempt vehicle ... if they don't have an operational A.N.P.R. system how can they check Tyne tunnel is another example we always have to get the staff to physically check the tax disk no disk will we have to pay??????

That's a really good point. In all the car parks around here, it's free if you are tax exempt. At the moment they can check, but won't be able to soon. I wonder if this is something that has been totally overlooked.

Mentioned this to my oh he put the question on another forum and this is what came as a reply .

i,m told the new blue badges you will be asked for a registration number . that will be on the badge if you arent in that vehicle some carparks you will have to pay.
cornwall county council have already started it . earlier this year . i can only think its to get ready for the no tax disc displaying .""

Not sure if this is what is going to be, no doubt it`ll be sorted out eventually.

That's a dumb idea too, as it means the person with the badge can only have it for one car, rather than have a disc they can use in any car. I know we have more than the average number of vehicles in my family, but there must be many families who go out in one car for one sort of event, and a different one for a different event. When I had a blue badge, sometimes I drove myself in my car, but at other times my son would drive me in his. I was equally disabled in whatever car I was in!

Seems that the UK are coming in line with much of Europe? Here in Spain we do not have tax discs but we do have the equivalent to MOT stickers which have to be placed on the windscreen. All documents have to be carried inside the vehicle at all times even down to the proof that the insurance has been paid! With this I guess police can tell if everything is up to date but as Susie says, not sure how they can tell just by looking! I have never seen a traffic warden here but we do have PLENTY of local police which are always around, even down to helping with traffic flow complete with whistle!

I can only agree with everything you said, we too swop around depending on which vehicle we are taking Paul out in, like today we are putting it in the motorhome as were off to France.
Also have a new tax disc which starts on the 1st Sept.

Better get myself in the shower, lots of last minute things to do.

at the moment that's correct George - but if we go the same way as Spain and have to show the vehicle registration number on the blue badge then it's going to cause more than a few problems !
