I was horrified when I took my son to the dental department at our local hospital
My son has Down's Syndrome, has the mental age of maybe 18 month, so any dental work to be done needs to be done using general anesthetic.
I was told he has the start of holes beginning in 3 front teeth. I thought "Ok, I'm not thrilled by him having fillings but was told, "Unlike the high street dental surgery, we have an aggressive treatment policy, and will be removing the 3 teeth".
It's not as if people don't stare at my son enough that they are going to take 3 front teeth. He obviously can't wear false ones on a palate.
I am dreading his having to go through this. I think this is just another NHS way of saving money.
