Sentimental Clock

I bought my mother a clock a few months before she died in 2003 and it stopped working last week.
I took it to a repairer and told him I put a new Duracell battery in it and he told me to go over to the opposite market stall and get some cheap batteries and try that.
All I can say is it has worked perfectly since last Monday.

Batteries can sometimes be amazing. I have a digital thermometer on my computer desk which has had the same batteries/battery since at least 2004 and is still working. I have no idea if they're good batteries or cheap ones as I'm wary to touch them in case they stop working.

And regarding sentimental things, I've used a towel which belonged to my great-uncle to keep the dust off my washing machine since the mid-eighties when he died. It's nice to think of him whenever I see it.

I hope the clock keeps working well.

Brian I get all my batteries in the £1 shop they also sell a whole card of watch batteries (various sizes) for a £1 too - been using them for years with no problems. I've only got one watch that I need to take into the jewellers to have a new battery fitted 'cos it's an odd shape and size - that one costs me £5 a time
