I care for two disabled elderly grandparents, I have tried to hold down jobs but wit my grandparents calling me home because they can't do something or find something means I have lost work, I want to work but a job that allows me to be there for my grandparents and be employed simply doesn't exist.
I am not lazy I have looked for the last few years for a part time job been to countless interviews and each time my carers responsibilities have lost me the job because I need to be home for hospital appointments.
How dare someone who has no idea of what its like try to say I am lazy, I cannot find a job not when there are people with no responsibilities who can work any hours, according to the news one million people will be unemployed, that's one million other people most who probably don't care, who can work any hours so I haven't got a chance in hell, I didn't chose to lose all my friends due to lack of time to go out, I didn't chose to have no income or job prospects, when society does not provide adequate care then they should support those who do the job that care homes used to.
Sorry but I am getting so angry with being labelled lazy when I am not, being called a benefit sponge when I dont want to be on them, I CANNOT find work, I cannot spend a hour on a bus to find work when I do they will not hire me because I care.
its a damn disgrace they call us all lazy.. lazy.. alot of carers are lucky to get any sleep, we work night and day, with no sick pay, no sick days, no holiday breaks, no day offs nothing...
out of any tory MP i thought David cameron would have a tiny understanding for the disabled people. he had a disabled son himself.. quoting him he says
"In a 2007 speech, Mr Cameron described how he cared for the "severely disabled" Ivan.
It's what I do at the start of each day. It's sharpened my focus on the world of care assessments, eligibility criteria, disability living allowance, respite breaks, OTs, SENCOs, and other sets of initials.
But I would not dare to call myself a carer. The work that full-time carers or those with little extra help do is unbelievable."
HAHA.. what a JOKE!!! he sharp forgets himself that guy
oh and this bit
"Friends have said the experience of caring for Ivan broadened Mr Cameron's political outlook and made him a passionate supporter of the NHS, which helped provide the round-the-clock care Ivan needed. "
this is the very reason cameron has NOT GOT A CLUE what life of a carer is like.. round the clock care provided by the NHS.. why didnt he try doing that round the clock care himself and see how knackered he got from no sleep day after day year after year, then be told hes a lazy scrounger and get off his arse and get a job...
