Can someone explain the Care Act, In April 2015, some parts of the Act come into effect and carers will be entitled to help.
How does this work and what kind of help?
As I am getting Zero help mainly refusal/lack of services, I don't see how how the Council can suddenly magic up this help?
Can someone explain how this is going to work?
Hi I've heard that the council's are using bugeting grants but I have heard that they are using it for other needs.

I have been trying to look up the Act online but all the stuff I can find seems to relate to England & Wales only? Is that right?

that may very well be right Eun - 'cos as I understand it doesn't Scotland have autonomy and responsibility over it's own care issues without intervention from Westminster ?
Scotland has its own legislation and has not, as far as I know, signed up to anything remotely similar to the Care Act. What they do is shown on this link: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Healt ... ocial-Care

It doesn't seem to be particularly informative though.
The Department of Health is consulting the public on the draft regulations and guidance needed to introduce the cap on care costs. It also covers proposals for a new appeals system.

You can visit the site http://careact2016.dh.gov.uk/ to find out more, read what others are saying and comment on the proposals. Your comments will be published on the site, and will be used to clarify and improve the guidance, regulations and proposals.

Hi Gavin,
The problem some not all like myself are carer for a family member, wife as in my case. The last time I asked the council for assistance was a few years a go when I as carer as I am now looking after my wife. My mother-in-law moved just down the street. She had parkinsons, diabetes and heart problems. I was told son you look after them. They didn't and still don't care less. We applied for funding for my mother-in-law and got it but the council said pay up but gave no service. Has this changed over the last few years or are the customer ie the person needing council assistance going to be ripped off as in our case.
Bye,
Bernard.
