Whilst any govt continues to work top/down, money will never, or at least only a fraction of it, will reach family carers.
The whole thing needs ripped apart but when renewing, build from the strong foundation that family carers provide. Anything else will be unsustainable in the long term.
If we look at members here.Although joined a carers support forum, the illnesses/disabilities of those they care for covers a wide range.Alzheimers,MS,DS,autism, cancer, parkinsons and so on. Yet the one common thread running through the lot of them is family support to such an extent that the NHS and Soc services cannot cope without them. On the C4 programme the other night, even Burnham said families would be relied on even more so in the future. If that is the case start building now to ensure they receive the necessary support both financially and resources.
