Gosport Hospital Deaths ?

Discuss news stories and political issues that affect carers.
When it's one of their own , strange how ranks quickly close ( Shades of with Grenfell Tower already. )

And , within the Establishment , if you are a member ( BMA / NHS / Police ) , how the whole Establishment also closes ranks.

There is , most probably , a whole team entrusted to " Damage control " as I type ... " Plumbers " if one uses the American term following Watergate.

Would not surprise me in the least to see certain files " Disappear " over the next few weeks / months / years !

Seen it all before ... nothing within the Establishment ever changes ... for the good !

In many ways , publications like Private Eye are VITAL ... the common man 's / woman's watchdog ... with real teeth !

Aberfan ?

Would NOT have been the same without The Eye at the time ... and their sources uncovering the real facts.
Suffice to add from the BBC news today :

Gosport hospital deaths: Police announce new probe.

Just a snippet :

The inquiry by the Gosport Independent Panel said the quality of previous police investigations had been "consistently poor".

It found whistleblowers and families were ignored as they attempted to raise concerns about the administration of medication on the wards, which was overseen by Dr Jane Barton.

The report said there was a "disregard for human life" of a large number of patients from 1989 to 2000.

Dr Barton retired after being found guilty by a medical panel of failings in her care of 12 patients at Gosport between 1996 and 1999.

Previously Hampshire Constabulary said it would "step back" from any future police investigations because relatives' confidence in the force had been "damaged".
