The Government have now published it's guidance to local authorities on the £25 million funding for carer emergencies.

The guidance is on the Department of Health website

I hope local carers groups and local campaigners will keep the pressure on their local councils aroudn this funding. One thing that was interesting is the guidance is it is clear council's should not charge for emergency cover. I know in the past this has been the case where you get carers having to go into hospital for surgery and having to pay for someone to cover them whilst they are ill.
