Terminate the rate - cheaper mobile calls

We need you! To make calling cheaper

The Terminate the Rate campaign has made headlines and got people talking across the country. Tens of thousands have signed our petition at
http://www.terminatetherate.org <

But we need tens of thousands more to help bring the cost of calling down.

Mobile Termination Rates are a hidden phone charge paid by all of us. They account for 4.7p, or more, for every minute of a call to a different mobile phone company from a mobile phone or landline. They add up to billions of pounds every year according to Ofcom, the UK telecoms regulator. These charges are outdated and unfair to consumers and businesses because they keep prices artificially high. Change is crucial to enable phone companies like BT and 3 to offer flat rate, unlimited deals which would include calls to all mobile phones on all UK mobile networks.

Here's what you can do.

We are urging the decision makers at Ofcom to take action by lowering the cost of these hidden charges to around a penny or less. To demonstrate public support for change we are asking people to sign our petition. People like you, who want a fairer deal. The more people who sign up, the more noise we'll make and the more Ofcom will have to take notice and address this issue.

Please join our fight for lower phone bills. It only takes a minute and we could all be better off.

With thanks from us all at the Terminate the Rate campaign.

I do wish that the same effort was being made to stop 0844 numbers being used by GP surgeries, I have gone to the effort to find the cheapest telecoms provider to meet our needs and can end up spending prohibitive sums of money telephoning the surgery, to add insult to injury most of my calls are due to mistakes in prescriptions or house-calls which have not taken place Image .

Annie,

Have you tried www.saynoto0870.com

- it gives alternative standard landline numbers for 0870; 0844;0845 numbers. I've used it a couple of times when ringing my bank or the insurance company - I'm with Virgin for my phone and have to pay a premium for 0845 and 0870 numbers.
Try these:

I've been using them for years & saved a fortune on local, national, international & 0845 numbers. May not work for 0844 numbers though.

Found these sites from]http://moneysavingexpert.com[/url] Useful for all manner of things
kia i was just gonna post that link up, saw it in a paper matty got today
Yeah I saw it in the paper as well just after I posted it.
Martin Lewis' website is brilliant for so many things. I spread the link around far & wide when I first discovered it. Worth doing so again.

If you're with BT then 18185 charges nothing for calls other than 4p connection I think. If you're NTL/Virgin then it's 1p a minute but still way cheaper. 0845 numbers are half pence a minute & international calls way cheap. Also cheap to call mobiles from landline.

I see you're in Dorking pixienubbins, not far from me...love the name btw Image
