Given that many food banks operate out if inadequate premises ... my local one a prime example ... only limited amount of supplies can be housed before
additional space is required ... two of the ladies in Worksop store surplus donations in garages.

Fresh stuff fine ... Aldi / ASDA leading the way locally but ... as recommended ... check with your local one first.

Logistics is a welcomed headache for most food banks ... especially as many are receiving record levels of supplies ... to meet the ever rising demand.

" Friends of food banks " ... at local level ... to assist with the storage and other logistic problems are also increasing.

Local school where my astronomy society meet every fortnight are one ... space made available within to house donations.

XPO Logistics reports record food bank donations over Christmas period.

XPO Logistics delivered more than seven tonnes of food to 35 food banks across the UK over the Christmas period.

The donation was equivalent to providing an estimated 9,500 meals for vulnerable people across the UK, according to the global logistics group.

More than 8,700 XPO employees supported the initiative by collecting or donating food, raising funds or volunteering at local food banks. It was the fifth consecutive food drive for the company and set a new record for its annual ‘United in Giving’ campaign.

Says it all ... a big " Thank you " on behalf of all those citizens , including family . kinship carers , who have benefited directly !

Trouble is , food bank usage CONTINUES TO RISE ... and demand for the basic essentials to survive are like gold dust for far too many !
