Create a legal right for patients to receive timely face-to-

Hi to all Carers here

Having faced the fiasco of trying to see my Dr, re E-Consult has been a nightmare!

Twice, I have ended up in a overcrowded A&E, once sent by e consult, the second time by ambulance due to the fact that my Dr does not appear to react to his e-mail that clearly states that I need to be seen urgently! It actually took a full week for another Dr to reply to that e-mail and this was after my sight became very blurry for the 3rd time in 2 years and I ended up in A&E!

I arrived for the 1st time and was in the hospital for almost 5 hours where a junior Dr said quite bluntly; it's all muscular take regular pain killers and look on google for physio and do that also!!!!

The second time I arrived by ambulance at half past 8pm and didn't get home until 4 in the morning! The ambulance staff made clear that Dr's are sending their patients to A&E which is causing chaos to the service and as a consequence people like you and I have to wait forever to be seen!

When my Husband phoned 111 they were also asking people to speak to the chemist, look for info on Dr's websites etc... because 111 was overwhelmed! My Husband stayed on the line until we were answered!

I had already spoke with a chemist who was concerned for my well being re having a fall, being over 65, the menopause and brittle bones and that fact that I have almost blacked out 3 times with severe neck and head pain!

On the 3rd occasion my Husband insisted I go to the walk in centre as A&E were full to capacity! The Dr there said your Dr needs to do blood tests and an X-Ray incase of injury! This was ignored quite conveniently by my Dr!

This is how I ended up in A&E for the 2nd time as I was left to try and get on with it myself, however I had done all of the usual myself and was taking advice from chemist, 2 in fact and the Dr at the walk in centre!!!!!

Whilst people like myself applaud the work that our NHS does and after all of their hard work during covid too; this fiasco with our own Dr's has to stop!!! In time people will get fed up of our own GP's not taking responsibility for their own patients; enough is enough!

In A&E I spoke to a number of people, all saying the same thing that their Dr's were sending patients to A&E and that they could not get an appointment no matter how hard they had tried. At least 7 people left due to the waiting times and being in pain and distress and couldn't cope with the long waits.

One woman was in so much pain she was almost in tears; she had had a 6 hour wait and it still was ongoing. She looked at me and said I wish I had the money to go private!

The second time in A&E which was for my blurry vision I saw an excellent Dr who listened responded and did a CT scan there and then. The next day I received a call from the stroke clinic to do another test and tomorrow I am going for an MRI scan.

My neck and back and head pain have not been checked properly and I am praying to God that it rights itself in time.

As a working class woman and a Carer, my health is vital to me in order to continue in my Caring role and not being a burden on our tax payer!!!!!

THIS IS A PETITION BY SILVER VOICES

Petition
Create a legal right for patients to receive timely face-to-face GP appointments
There are reports of some GP practices refusing requests for face-to-face appointments from patients, despite guidance stating patient preference should be respected unless they are considered a covid-19 infection risk. Government should legislate if necessary to put this fundamental right in law.

HI Hugetort,
I am hearing similar horror stories off friends. I hope your persistence (that shouldn't be necessary) pays off and you get the tests and treatment you need. Worrying times. Please can you post a link to your petition.
