Dear all,

The Parkinson's Disease Society Policy and Campaigns team are writing to ask for your support on some key national campaigning issues. We would be grateful for your help in getting our message across to the Government in order to improve the lives of people affected by Parkinson's.

Below are some ways to get involved:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Use your last chance to tell Parliamentary Inquiry about your experience of accessing services in England, Wales and Northern Ireland

People affected by Parkinson's are being encouraged to tell the All Party Parliamentary Group for Parkinson's disease (a group of cross-party MPs and Peers) about their experiences of accessing health and social care services. This is your chance to have a say about the care and support you need. Your evidence could have a real impact on policy and services.

To tell the Inquiry about your experiences, please download the written evidence form (Word, 91KB) fill it out and send it back to Emily Cogbill

· By email: ecogbill@parkinsons.org.uk
· By post]www.parkinsons.org.uk/appg[/url] or contact Emily Cogbill on 020 7932 1362.

The deadline for returning forms is 9th February 2009.

Campaign to abolish prescription charges for all people with long term conditions in England

The PDS is campaigning for the Government to abolish prescription charges for all people with long term conditions, such as Parkinson's, in England before the next election. Prescription charges have been abolished in Wales and will be phased out in Northern Ireland by 2010 and by 2011 in Scotland.

Help us to put pressure on the Government to commit to this by writing to your MP, asking them to sign our Parliamentary motion, Early Day Motion 566.

You can also have your say in a review being carried out on behalf of the Government looking at how an exemption from prescription charges for people with long term conditions might work. The review group is conducting a survey to consider views from members of the public on this.

Have your say by completing the survey here.
