We are currently conducting a research study examining the impact of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards on social care practice and human rights. Details of the study can be found at http://www.lse.ac.uk/collections/NIHRSS ... e_DoLS.pdf . We are also happy to send details by post to anyone who is interested.

The project has an advisory group which includes voluntary sector organisations concerned with the needs and rights of carers and we would now like to invite 2 carers, with relevant experience, to join us. By relevant experience we mean a person who is the carer or close relative of someone who is, or has recently been, subject to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Advisory group members will be asked to attend 3 meetings during the life of the research project and may be asked to comment on project materials such as topic guides or reports. Carers will be paid a fee of £200 plus expenses for attendance and prior preparation. Alternatively, if carers prefer not to attend advisory group meetings, it may be possible to form a separate carers' reference group with suggestions or recommendations presented at advisory group meetings by the project team.

We are also interested in hearing from anyone who would like to share their opinions on the DOLS process with the project team. They could either post a response, write to us at the address below, email us or ring us.
