I am a 72 year old pensioner living on my own with COPD so should stay at home unless necessary to go out. I am the registered carer for my diabetic son who lives in his own accommodation. Am I officially allowed to go to his flat and check he is ok etc?

When are people allowed to leave their homes?

Mr Johnson said everybody should stay at home and would only be allowed to leave for specific reasons:

Shopping for "basic necessities", as infrequently as possible. People should use delivery services, where they can
Medical reasons, to provide care, or to help a vulnerable person
Travelling to and from work, but only if it is "absolutely necessary"
although with your own vulnerability I would suggest that it might be better not to and maintain contact by phone/skype.

I think the answer is yes you can, you are not banned, however no you shouldn't, for the sake of your own health. Does your son have any other health issues?
