Carers UK is looking for a Project Manager to deliver our Carers Active Campaign Programme for the next three years.

We are excited to have funding through Sport England from the National Lottery to deliver our work to help carers in particular aged 55+ become more physically active and to reduce loneliness.

Our research has shown that carers’ physical activity levels are far lower than others of the same age, because of the barriers they face. Activity levels have become worse during the pandemic when life has become considerably harder for many providing unpaid care. Yet carers tell us they want to be able to do more and to improve their health and wellbeing.

This project aims to continue our research and insight work with carers, to support carers to become more physical active, tackling the barriers they face and raising awareness of the importance of physical activity.

About you

You will be a highly motivated person with a proven track record of planning and delivering multi-layered projects on time, to budget and on target. Collaborative in approach and with excellent communication skills you will be part of the Policy and Public Affairs team. You would also be working closely with many other teams across the organisation as well as multiple external valued stakeholders at national and local levels.  You should be able to demonstrate evidence-led change.

About the role

The role will be varied and diverse, planning and delivering awareness campaigns, as well as involving carers and professionals in insight work, research and continued policy development. This is a flagship piece of work that is breaking new ground, within a strong and supportive sector. The impact of this work will change carers’ lives for the better as well as improving practice.

About us

Carers UK is the leading national charity, supporting, advocating for and connecting unpaid carers across the UK.

With over 6.5 million unpaid carers in the UK and 6,000 individuals becoming a carer every day the need to support them is growing and urgent. Unpaid carers save the country an estimated £530 million each day and are vital to the friends and family members they support, as well as to the wider community.

COVID-19 has dramatically affected carers across the country. Our recent polling suggests that the figure for unpaid carers could now be as high as 13.6 million, with 4.5 million people starting to care overnight due to the impact on coronavirus on services and individuals.
