  • Job type:Contract, full time
  • Closing date:01 March 2021, 10.05 am

About the role

This opportunity will complete the first phase of Carers UK’s highly successful work to make it possible for more unpaid carers, particularly those over the age of 55, to be physically active and to reduce loneliness.

The role requires creativity in terms of completing the final report which has already been drafted, taking it through publication to launch, including working with media colleagues, professionals, and carers to disseminate the work, and encouraging new activity in the run up to Carers Week (7-13 June). The work is funded by Sport England and reporting will also be necessary.

About you

This role requires outstanding written and oral communication skills, experience of rapid relationship building and partnership working, and the ability to multi-task across complex work streams. First-rate organisational skills, a good eye for campaigns and media, experience of working with funders, and an understanding of local government, health, and voluntary sectors will be essential.

About us

Carers UK is the leading national membership charity, supporting, advocating for and connecting unpaid carers across the UK.

With over 6.5 million unpaid carers in the UK and 6,000 individuals becoming a carer every day the need to support them is growing and urgent. Unpaid carers save the country an estimated £530 million each day and are vital to the friends and family members they support, as well as to the wider community.

COVID-19 has dramatically affected carers across the country. Our recent polling suggests that the figure for unpaid carers could now be as high as 13.6 million, with 4.5 million people starting to care overnight due to the impact on coronavirus on services and individuals.
