Freelance Advice Officer - Care and Support

  • Salary:£20 per hour depending on experience
  • Location:Home based
  • Job type:Freelance, part-time
  • Closing date:29 April 2019, 9.00 am

We are seeking a freelance Advice Officer to support our email advice service. We require support for between 4-6 hours a week.

The role will involve answering emails on community care issues that affect carers and their families. The enquiries range from general questions about the availability of support services for carers and the person they look after, to more complex enquires about direct payments, charging for services or challenging assessments. Applicants will have to be experienced in advising on these subjects and have knowledge of the 2014 Care Act and how it affects carers across all the UK. Knowledge of welfare benefits is an advantage and most of our benefit enquiries relate to either Carer’s Allowance or disability benefits.

The role is home based and there is no requirement to come to the Carers UK office.  Full training and support will be given on the use of our IT systems including our database.

Carers UK is the national membership charity for the 6.5 million people in the UK who are unpaid carers. As an organisation we provide expert advice and information for carers, campaign for greater recognition and support for carers, and use our experience and expertise to help other organisations do more for carers.
