Carers Emergency Card

Carers often tell us that they worry about what would happen to the person they care for if they had an accident or became incapacitated.

In response to this, Carers Wales has developed a new card for you.

Should an emergency or accident happen, by carrying this card it will let emergency workers and others know that someone relies on you as a carer. The card provides spaces for emergency contacts, for example family or friends who can help.

You can obtain a card by calling us on 029 2081 1370 or e-mailing us This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

(Please provide your name and address if e-mailing)

ICE (if you have a mobile phone)

If you have a mobile phone you may be aware of a campaign conceived by a paramedic called ICE (In case of emergency).  This encourages people to enter emergency contact into their mobile phone address book.

Simply store the word ICE in your mobile phone address book and against it enter the number of the person you want to be contacted "in case of an emergency".

In an emergency situation, ambulance staff, police and hospital staff will then be able to find quickly who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. You can list multiple emergency contacts eg.  ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc

ICE cannot be used if your mobile phone is locked with a password.  For security purposes many mobile phone owners lock their mobiles and require a password or passcode to be entered in order to access the device.  This means that emergency services cannot access the ICE phone entry list.

In response to this problem many device manufacturers have provided a mechanism to specify some text to be displayed whilst the phone is in a locked state, you could specify your ICE contact in this text.  Check your instruction manual or contact your mobile provider for further advice.
