StretchBodyMind Stress Management

1 in 5 people find work either very or extremely stressful. In fact, in the UK, over half a million people working an average of 40 hours per week are experiencing work-related stress at a level that is making them ill.

It should not be surprising, therefore, to learn that people who are carers are experiencing high stress levels, as their role as a carer involves working 24/7 – not eight hours out of every 24, five days a week.

Being an unpaid carer can be rewarding but it can also be extremely stressful. This stress can make it hard to cope with the demands of caring. You can become more and more exhausted, tense and irritable, putting a strain on relationships. This can make you feel you are losing control over your life and that there is no way of regaining this control.

StretchBodyMind can provide some simple ways to deal with these stresses.

The aim of this course is to provide participants with tools and techniques to help deal with the current stress epidemic. StretchBodyMind programmes are always highly interactive and will involve physical exercises that can be done in the home or workplace based on Yoga and Pilates as well as relaxation techniques that can be done anywhere.

Suitable for: care managers, health services staff, voluntary sector workers in support roles or anyone experiencing stress in the workplace, as well as carers themselves.

Upon completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Define stress and differentiate between pressure and stress
  • State the short and long term effects of stress on an individual (and their organisation)
  • Identify the early warning signs of stress and create coping strategies to stop stress in its tracks
  • Devise strategies for dealing with stress both in work and in the community
  • Use simple physical and mental relaxation techniques

This course can also be done in-house on request, at a date more convenient to your needs.
