Manifesto for Unpaid Carers in Scotland published

16 December 2015

The national carer organisations, including Carers Scotland, today published our Manifesto for Unpaid Carers in Scotland

The manifesto has been produced by the national carer organisations, including Carers Scotland, for the Scottish Parliamentary Elections in 2016.  It has been developed, drawing both on the knowledge of carers and from discussions with carers throughout 2015.

The manifesto covers a range of request for political parties to commit to:

  • adequate resources to implement the Carers Bill
  • increased efforts to improve short break provision
  • better, preventative support for carers
  • improved financial support for carers
  • sufficient, sustainable funding for social care
  • support carers in and into employment
  • introducing health checks for carers

There are a number of "asks" under each headline.  A copy of the manifesto can be found by clicking here.

We will be producing a campaign pack for groups and carers in early 2016.
