Draft Pensions Bill - your comments sought

DSD is looking for comments on the draft Pensions Bill.

The Department for Work and Pensions has published a draft Pensions Bill and submitted it to the Work and Pensions Select Committee for pre-legislative scrutiny. The Committee will issue a call for evidence in the next few days and has been asked to report no later than the Easter Parliamentary recess. Interested parties are invited to submit comments as part of the scrutiny process.

The draft Bill sets out legislative proposals for:

• the introduction of a single-tier State Pension;
• bringing forward the increase in State Pension age to 67;
• the introduction of a framework for future increases to the State Pension age;
• the introduction of the Bereavement Support Payment; and
• amendments to private pensions legislation.
