Caring is an issue which affects every family in the UK, and at some point in our lives we will all care for a loved one or need care ourselves.
Whilst caring for someone close to you can be rewarding, it also forces many carers into ill-health, poverty and isolation. Alongside 6 million personal stories of the the frustration, despair, satisfation and joy of caring - caring is also rapidly becoming one of the biggest political challenges of the 21st century. With policy implications for health and social care, benefits, pensions, equalities and workplace rights, how we care for older, ill and disabled people in our families and public services is a political issue which cannot be avoided.
As the biggest membership organisation of carers in the UK, Carers UK is in touch with thousands of carers with stories to tell, as well as being at the forefront of research into the economic and social impact of caring on individuals and society.
