In 2011, helped by ITV stars including Ant and Dec, Philip Schofield and Christine Bleakley, Text Santa raised over £4 million for nine charities across the UK including Carers UK.
Carers UK is the only one of the nine charities from Text Santa 2011 to be selected for a second time, and this year joins five other national charities offering support to vulnerable people and families in difficult circumstances, alongside Age UK, Anthony Nolan, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Together for Short Lives and Whizz-Kidz.
This year, Text Santa will include a live ITV entertainment extravaganza on Friday 21st December, with many of ITVs best-loved presenters introducing star guests, live performances and special mini episodes of ITVs biggest shows.
Heléna Herklots, Chief Executive of Carers UK: We are delighted and grateful to have been picked by ITV for Text Santa for a second year running. Carers so often feel invisible, and this high-profile support from some of TVs top names is real recognition not only of all that carers do, but also of the hardship and isolation caring can bring, which can be worse at Christmas time. Text Santa will make a big difference in helping Carers UK to be there for carers all year round, to help them get the advice, information, practical and emotional support they need."
