Caring can be extremely complicated, whether we’re grappling with the benefits system or considering how to fund future care costs. Each strand is confusing but when all the strands are tangled, it can feel bewildering.
The Carers UK Adviceline is here when you need expert advice about your rights, about financial and practical support or about any other challenges caring can present.
Upfront is the first online guide of its kind to give tailored financial and practical information to those who are new to caring.
As well as the practical and financial support, you’ll find information to help you manage the impact of caring on your health and relationships. Click the link below to give it a go and get your own personalised guide to caring!
Looking after someone
‘Looking after someone’ is our updated 2017 guide for anyone caring for family or friends. The guide outlines your rights as a carer and gives an overview of the practical and financial support available.
It is divided into the following sections: getting help and support, your finances and your work. This 2017 edition includes A Carer’s Guide, an illustrated introduction to the challenges of caring, from making difficult decisions to looking after your health and wellbeing.
Get the skills and confidence you need to face the challenges of caring – from learning how to navigate a confusing system to how to communicate effectively.
We have produced Being Heard – a self-advocacy guide for carers to help carers get their voice heard and communicate their concerns in a way that gives them the best chance of getting a positive outcome.
The guide includes sections on 'the system', communicating effectively and emotions and thinking.
