Equipment and adapting your home

Making life easier

Having a disability can make it harder to do things that most people take for granted. However there are lots of products available designed to make life easier - for the disabled person and their carer.

Different types of equipment can help you to care for the person you look after (bed raisers, hoists) and for them to live independently (grab rails, alarm systems).  Telecare and telehealth can give greater independence and peace of mind for the carer. In some cases your home can be adapted to make things better (ramps built for wheelchair user).

You can either buy your own equipment and adaptations or you can obtain help through the NHS or your local council/trust.
