Ian, Sheila and Norrie

Listen to Ian talk about caring

I'm not that patient a person and caring is quite difficult for me. I don’t think people appreciate how hard it is.

Ian’s wife Sheila has Picks Disease, a form of early onset dementia. Ian’s mother Norrie also lives with them, she also has dementia.

Caring has changed Ian’s life. He has had to learn how to do all the cooking, cleaning and gardening which he never had to do before.

Ian had to cut down his hours at work but still does 3 days a week, and has replacement care to look after Sheila and Norrie whilst he works.

“It's quite relaxing going to work.” says Ian “It's a break from caring.”
